BIGGEST AIR WHEELIE - The Midnight Sailor Award returns to PulpMX LCQ Challenge

Nothing in this world can compare to the sheer beauty of 22 highly-talented privateers performing a magnificent air wheelie over a Supercross finish line jump one after another like a train of sweet awesomeness. It was majestic beauty watching front wheels go to the sky in Denver, CO at the PulpMX LCQ Challenge with the riders competing for THOUSANDS of dollars and honors as Midnight Sailor Award winner. The goal is for us and the riders to go even bigger and better for 2025 as we’ve fine tuned the competition and will get the fans involved, PLUS HAVE POTENTIALLY TWO WINNERS FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!

HOWEVER, we need YOUR help!  As they say, "The more we raise, the higher they'll go!"

During the parade lap before the final at the PulpMX Yamaha LCQ Challenge over the finish line jump send your front wheel TO THE MOON!  The rider voted to have the best overall air wheelie (aka midnight sailor, aka Cade Air, aka boner air, aka sky wheelie, aka EPIC FORM) will take home the cash gathered from air wheelie fans around the world.

Judging criteria and format UPDATED FOR 2025!

We learn, we evolve!  Judging format and criteria updated once again for 2025!  

THE PEOPLE’S CHAMPION! - 50% of the payout will go to the rider fans vote had the best Midnight Sailor.  Videos and photos will be posted along with a poll open to the fans on Vurbmoto.com after the event.  The winner of the most votes will be awarded THE PEOPLE’S CHAMPION PRIZE!

THE MIDNIGHT SAILOR CHAMPION - 50% of the payout will go to the rider our esteemed panel of judges determines as the king of the sky wheelie.

Upon completion of the most stylish parade lap in the universe our highly qualified panel of judges will compile their scores and likely argue to the death until a winner is settled upon.  The winner will be announced on the following Monday’s PulpMX Show allowing additional time to review footage of the event.

Judge 1 - Matt Burkeen

If you’ve ever stumbled across Matt’s YouTube channel you know the guy has captured more air wheelies on his iPhone than Ronnie Mac and myself have ever performed.  He’s definitely an expert on the subject.

Judge 2 - Wes Williams and his hot dog eating pals

The dude created Fundurance races so he clearly understands fun on 2 wheels.  Plus he’s supported the award and event since day numero uno.  

Judge 3 - Head Judge Steve Matthes

The ruler of Privateer Island and reason we all get to enjoy this fun and meaningful event has actually never had a vote in this award and that’s a shame… so we’re changing it!

Riders will be judged on the impression they make on the judges… period.

Each judge will submit their podium picks and points will be assigned as follows.

1. 25 points

2. 22 points

3. 20 points

Points from the 3 judges and the donors will be combined.  High score wins.  Any ties will be broken by Head Judge Steve Matthes.
